I think promoting a culture where people value truth and rational deliberation is essential to safeguarding freedom. Apart from freedom, people also need certainty in their lives, and decisions that guarantee their prosperity need to be made. Freedom is only guaranteed if the social consensus needed for these decisions is made through rational deliberation and not arbitrary social will. The latter of these is often a recipe for coercive social systems.
There is so much that needs to change that I don’t even know where to start. But if I had to choose, I would begin with women’s rights. In many countries, women are still heavily oppressed, denied basic rights, and lack the freedom to make their own choices. Even in Western countries, gender equality is far from achieved, with issues like the gender pay gap, discrimination, and limited representation in leadership. True freedom means equal rights and opportunities for everyone, regardless of gender, and that’s something I want to help change.
Everywhere, I would make sure that the legal system is genuinely independent. People can truly feel safe and free when the law is just and unaffected by politics, money, or special interests. It ensures that no one is above the law and defends their rights. Moreover, I would ensure that everyone had access to free education. You ought to have access to high-quality education and be able to learn anything you choose, regardless of your background or financial situation. People can grow, select their own path, and get out of poverty or difficult situations with the help of education. In addition to this, the minimum wage should, in my opinion, always be sufficient to live a decent life rather than just get by. Even with full-time jobs, many people still find it difficult to pay for necessities like food, housing, and medical care. Being able to live without ongoing financial worry is a sign of true freedom.
I would like to create platforms that let young people thoughts effect and shape the real world.
I would like to create more awareness and solidarity. I want to see a world where young people are more empowered to stand up for freedom and human rights, not only in their own countries but globally. I believe in strengthening education and platforms where freedom is discussed openly, so that we can protect it and ensure it’s not just a privilege for some, but a right for all.
As much as all of us would like to see a more equal and fair society, it is unfortunately close to impossible. There will always be a sense of injustice, or authority. I think it is an ideal that we as a society can actively strive towards, and with joint methods eventually very close to ideal that we have in our heads. It is important to acknowledge the gaps that are presented in the society right now, like for example those identified by the WHO SDGs, gender inequalities and “peace, justice, and strong institutions”. By having these two goals as our building blocks, we can start striving towards a society where people can speak their minds without being judged, or being afraid.
This directly ties into my previous answer, and again tends towards the sphere of education. I would like to create and facilitate not only safe spaces, but brave spaces. Spaces where people can share different opinions, are brave enough to ask the "wrong" questions, and feel comfortable enough to change their minds and consider foreign points of view. I would like to create more opportunities for learning and criticism and mistakes and empathy and love. A dialogue and conversation without borders. I think it is only with free minds that one can achieve a more free society and world. I would like to see more free minds.
I would like to see a world where freedom is not just a legal concept but a lived reality for everyone. This means stronger protection for marginalized communities, real consequences for those who violate human rights, and a global commitment to ensuring that every person—regardless of their nationality, gender, or beliefs—has access to education, opportunities, and a platform to be heard. I would also like to change the way freedom is often used as a political tool, ensuring that it is truly applied equally rather than selectively.
What I would like to change is that there is more awareness of the importance and power of peace.
