Treaty of Middelburg
I would love to see a world where freedom is a universal reality, not just a privilege. That means ensuring that people, especially young people, have the right to speak their minds without fear of censorship or punishment. I’d like to see more efforts to protect privacy and free speech, especially in the digital space, where so much of our lives are lived now. But beyond that, I’d want to see a change toward a more inclusive freedom where everyone, regardless of their background, feels empowered to pursue their dreams and make a difference in the world.

Why do you want to participate?
I want to participate in the Freedom Conference because I’m really passionate about the different perspectives of freedom and the role it plays in shaping our future. This event is an amazing opportunity to meet young people from around the world that share the same mindset as me and talk about the challenges and solutions related to freedom. I’m excited about the chance to learn from others and share my own thoughts. I truly believe that engaging in these kinds of conversations is essential for creating positive change, and I want to be part of that process whenever I have the opportunity for it.
What does freedom mean to you?
To me freedom is the ability to live my life on my own terms, without fear of being judged or held back because of who I am or what I believe. As someone with a chronic disease freedom can have several different forms. The freedom to do what I want to do but also to be able to live normally like every other person. It’s about having the space to express myself without restriction or fear of judgment, to make choices that affect my life, and to pursue my goals without unnecessary obstacles. But freedom isn’t just about personal liberty, it’s also about ensuring that others have the same opportunities no matter if they have different backgrounds or beliefs. It’s about mutual respect and lifting each other up.
What are the biggest challenges?
I think one of the biggest challenges is the way technology is impacting our lives. While it’s amazing to be connected, social media and digital platforms also create pressures, like online surveillance, insecurities and the spread of misinformation. Young people today often find themselves going through these challenges, trying to figure out how to express themselves freely without facing criticism or losing their privacy. On top of that, economic challenges and societal pressures can limit opportunities for many, which makes it harder for young people to express their freedoms in meaningful ways.
Do you have a message?
I think the message I want to share is that freedom is a shared responsibility, because our freedom and actions can affect others. It’s not just about fighting for your own rights but also advocating for the rights of others. If we want to live in a world where freedom is a reality for everyone, we need to listen to each other, support each other, and take action when we see injustice. We’re all in this together, and it’s through unity and understanding that we can create a more free and just world for all.
