Treaty of Middelburg
I would like every country in the world to have the minimum set of civil liberties as in democratic countries. And advancing even further than that, because even in advanced democratic countries there is room for improvement for example regarding the fear of poverty or hunger, which both still exist in democratic countries. Hunger and Poverty are one of the most important priorities because without eradicating them, no other freedom can be pursued by the people affected. The freedom for anyone in the world to pursue one's happiness without any restrictions, is a vision that I hold on to.

Why do you want to participate?
I want to become an ambassador to contribute to the Treaty of Middleburg because I want to share my unique perspective on DEIA as I have a personal migration background living in Germany, and a uniquely international perspective after participating in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). A shared vision of freedom and unity are essential in a diverse world, thus after seeing many different parts and aspects of the world through the combined lense of personal experience and academic knowledge in Political Science, I want to inspire and impact this and future generations appreciation, care for and expansion of freedom and unity in the world.
What does freedom mean to you?
Freedom is not only the presence of civil liberties such as the freedom of speech, assemply, or press. More than that freedom means the absence of fear and worries, whether they concern war and defense, health, financial and social security, or political suppression. They each also are multi-faceted and entangled. The freedom to live a life with dignity and without political, financial, or social limitations is, after all, my personal broad definition of freedom.
What are the biggest challenges?
One of the biggest challenges for young people is climate change. The outlook on the future seems limiting in the freedom of choice and we have to deal with the pressure of dealing with it within the "old" structures, paradigms, and ways of living that caused it. Dealing with that challenge within old structures is another limitating factor for freedom. That is a challenge, yet not one that can not be tackled by the young, creative, and connected population. A positive outlook is, that (democratic political) systems are transforming and beginning to be more diverse, including the young generation, who is itself partly causing the transformation.
Do you have a message?
Keep on believing in a united and free world, because anything is possible. Anything that we take for granted today was thought impossible some day before. That is proof that it takes the believers, the change makers, the courageous, to hold on to the visions of a better world and make them become reality. We, our generation, the people who will read this, have the privilege of access to information, knowledge, technologies, resources. And it is us who hold the power to shape the future we want of a united world where everyone can live freely, expressing their true selves without any kind of fear. Let's agree, disagree, discuss, exchange perspectives, and last but not least inspire each other, to actively contribute to a prosperous future.
