Treaty of Middelburg

I want to see a world where young people, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality and cultural background, can pursue their dreams without systemic barriers or fear of discrimination. This includes advocating for inclusive education, digital freedom, and policies that protect youth expression. Societies must recognize young people as key contributors and empower them with the resources and opportunities to shape their own futures.

Why do you want to participate?

I want to join this conference because I am passionate about youth empowerment and recognizing the importance of freedom. This event is a great opportunity to exchange ideas, connect with like-minded individuals, and work toward practical solutions that promote youth autonomy. I aim to learn from others, share my perspectives, and contribute to discussions that can lead to cultural change in protecting and expanding youth freedom worldwide.

What does freedom mean to you?

Freedom means living authentically, making choices that align with one's values, and expressing one's sexuality, gender identity without fear. It is about having access to opportunities, education, and platforms to voice opinions. True freedom also requires the removal of systemic barriers, ensuring that all individuals can thrive and speak up without possible oppression or discrimination.

What are the biggest challenges?

Young people today face many challenges, including restricted access to education, economic hardships, political repression, and digital censorship. Many are denied a voice in decision-making and experience social and legal limitations that restrict their autonomy. Additionally, growing online surveillance on internet platforms threatens freedom of expression, while financial struggles limit opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Do you have a message?

Young people are not just the future - they are the present. Their voices and rights must be protected, and they must be given the power to influence change. By fostering inclusivity, diversity, promoting education, and challenging unjust or unrealistic restrictions, we can create a world where freedom is not a privilege but a universal right, where everyone has the chance to express their opinions freely and without judgement.
