Treaty of Middelburg

I would like to bring awareness to the fact that our concept of freedom is being threatened on a daily basis today and that it is unacceptable. the current state of the world has led us to think that basic freedoms, such as freedom of speech, is a luxury that is only awarded to a select few who are from the "right" color, ethnicity, religion, etc. We are far away from where we thought we were, and recent events have been a wakeup call. I would like to bring awareness to how dangerous and devastating that is.

Why do you want to participate?

I want to exchange ideas about freedom and what it means to different people from various backgrounds. I also want the opportunity to get my own voice and input heard and make a difference.

What does freedom mean to you?

Freedom to me means the right to exist and to not have to worry about basic needs, to be able to pursue and choose the life that you want for yourself without worrying about food, safety, and getting access to the same resources as everyone else.

What are the biggest challenges?

Many young people around the world are still being faced with challenges for accessing basic needs and resources. Freedom should not be limited to a certain ethnicity, region, religion, gender etc. Until all of us are free from fear, war, and hunger, then freedom is not achieved at all. We must use our privilege and "freedom" to be able to even think about freedom, to fight for the less fortunate and have our, and their voices heard. It is especially important today, when we are seeing freedom being threatened all around the globe, to talk about it and acknowledge the shortcomings that have led us to this reality.

Do you have a message?

Not right now.
