Treaty of Middelburg

If I could change anything about freedom, it would be ensuring greater freedom of truth. In today's world, leaders can make unchecked statements, often controlling the media to shape public perception. This lack of accountability threatens democracy and informed decision-making. I believe it’s crucial to create a system where truth is protected, misinformation is challenged, and people have access to unbiased, factual information. Without truth, real freedom becomes impossible.

Why do you want to participate?

I believe participating in this event is both crucial and valuable, especially in a world where global tensions are escalating, and the risk of large-scale conflict feels more imminent than ever. Engaging in discussions about freedom, diplomacy, and cooperation is essential to fostering understanding and exploring solutions. Now more than ever, initiatives like this serve as a platform for young individuals like myself to contribute to shaping a more peaceful and resilient future.

What does freedom mean to you?

To me, freedom means being able to make my own choices without anyone unfairly restricting me. It’s about having control over my own life, being able to express my thoughts, and making decisions that shape my future. As long as I’m not harming others, no one should have the right to tell me what I can or can’t do.

What are the biggest challenges?

In my opinion, one of the biggest freedom challenges for young people today is freedom of truth. Misinformation and state-controlled narratives shape how people perceive the world, limiting their ability to make informed decisions. For example, in Russia, the government tightly controls the media, spreading false narratives to its citizens. However, this issue isn’t limited to authoritarian regimes— even in democratic countries like the United States, political leaders sometimes distort facts, making it difficult to know who to trust. In an age of information overload, the challenge isn’t just accessing news, but discerning what is actually true.
