Treaty of Middelburg
Some political systems. Political systems are rough, like not everyone will benefit from it. It is kinda rigged, as there is always a ‘losing party’. Some people are even threatened by their freedom of speech (insulting people or a social group does not fall into freedom of speech in my opinion). It is difficult and it takes time to create a fair system, but under current circumstances that’s a bit far reached.

Why do you want to participate?
Freedom is a concept that is present in everyone’s life, which also holds a different meaning for everyone. One’s freedom might be when you are clocking off from work, whilst the other is being free from jail, or even being able to be who you are without negative consequences affecting your freedom. Therefore I find it interesting to look at the different perspectives of freedom that each student has to come up with this treaty of freedom, as it is a multifaceted concept/term and can be interpreted in many ways, which requires a multidisciplinary approach on how this can be reached to all.
What does freedom mean to you?
Freedom means being able to do what you want without being constrained and without having negative thoughts about the consequences of your action. Next to that, it should be something that is can be considered as fun in normative ethical standards to you or in your culture (sometimes it might differ, but this would exclude crime related actions)
What are the biggest challenges?
Young people of today are technically put into a hundred year old system, society. We are put into stereotypes, boxes, and cultures, with many expectations and pressures. Sometimes I do find it nice that a path has been lain out for you, but if you follow such path, is it then really freedom that you are having?
