Treaty of Middelburg
I would strive for greater equality of opportunity for young people worldwide. Freedom means little if socioeconomic circumstances prevent access to quality education, fair job opportunities, or a safe living environment. An international policy addressing structural inequality would be a major step forward.

Why do you want to participate?
Participating in this event is important because young people should have a voice in discussions about freedom and democracy. It provides an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations, gain new perspectives, and collectively reflect on the challenges of our time. Additionally, it’s a great chance to network and exchange ideas with other motivated participants.
What does freedom mean to you?
To me, freedom means the ability to make autonomous decisions about my life without unnecessary external restrictions. This includes not only legal and political freedoms but also social and economic freedom, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to develop themselves and reach their full potential.
What are the biggest challenges?
One of the biggest challenges is the balance between digital freedom and privacy. Young people have more access to information than ever before, but they also face data collection, algorithmic influence, and online censorship. Additionally, economic inequality threatens freedom, as financial insecurity limits young people’s choices and opportunities.
Do you have a message?
One suggestion is to create more initiatives where young people are actively involved in policymaking, both locally and internationally. Through youth dialogues, participatory decision-making, and educational programs, young people can play a greater role in shaping their own future.
