Treaty of Middelburg
There are proposals like the Basic Universal Income that would help people born in economic instability have the minimal wealth to pursue who they want to be in life. Censorship in social media and the news must be reduced, free speech should not be restricted and information should not be hidden from the people. It is outrageous that some governments and big multinationals prioritize short-term economic interests over long-term sustainability, which will only affect the newer generations.

Why do you want to participate?
I want to engage in meaningful discussions that will help me deepen my understanding of freedom. Coming from Peru, a country in which minorities are often suppressed by politicians, I believe it would be fruitful to listen to the views on freedom of other students that come from different backgrounds. At the same time, I believe sharing my own experiences could be valuable for others. My long-term goal is to become the president of my country, and I believe I could learn a lot from students that have grown up in countries in which freedom rights are more or less respected than in Peru. Understanding these differences will help me develop a broader, more informed vision of human rights and leadership.
What does freedom mean to you?
For me, freedom is the ability to act, speak and make use of human rights according to one's will. This only holds true as long as you don't interfere with other's freedom. Freedom is what gives life color, what differentiates us from AI robots, what makes us living beings.
What are the biggest challenges?
Not everyone is born with the same opportunities. It is impossible for everyone to be born in the same position, but it is possible for everyone to have the basic needs covered and the minimal opportunities given to thrive. Many young people are born in economic instability, social inequality, and have a lack of representation in leadership. This leads to their voices not being heard and therefore their necessities not being covered.
Do you have a message?
I would like to attend to this event to hear the views of other people. Europe is like the 'big brother' for many underdeveloped countries like Peru. I really want to see how first-world countries sustain their freedom, so that one day I can go back to Peru and implement the ideas I learnt here.
