Treaty of Middelburg

I'd like to give the power back to the people. Making the institutions stronger only on the global issues, while the rest of the decisions should be decided as close to the people as possible. If you give the power back to the people and make the process as democratic as possible, everyone would have a say in their politics. On a broader level, I think that peace is the core problem that we need to solve to achieve freedom. Peace not only between counties, but also between people and communities. By achieving peace, we can work together to implement true and lasting freedom.

Why do you want to participate?

I want to contribute to a free world, where young people can work and study across the world freely without any prejudice or obstacles to geting a fair paying and just jobs. I'd like to network with my peers around the world to achieve this goal and use my position in my youth organisation to implement change after the conference in the Netherlands and the EU.

What does freedom mean to you?

For me, freedom is a possibility to act in the interest of yourself without facing challenges to achieving your personal goals. Being free for me means being able to grow as a person and in-turn, contribute to a just and peaceful society.

What are the biggest challenges?

Freedom of speech, freedom of expression, right for self determination are just a few of many challenges that the youth is facing, not only in the Netherlands or EU, but also in the rest of the world. Young people are often not taken seriously when we talk about implementing meaningful change. The older generation thinks that they are right because of their experience, but young people are smarter then they think. Undermining young people's voices is the root cause of other challenges that the youth face in their daily life's around the globe.

Do you have a message?

I would be honored to be invited to participate in the conference in May. This would be a great opportunity for me and my social circles around Europe, to shape the bighter future for all.
