Treaty of Middelburg

I hope for a world where there is more decentralisation through mechanisms such as international law as well as more global integration and interdependence as a counterweight to strong, authoritarian states; the less we put our eggs in one basket and the more everyone is cooperating, the harder it becomes for our freedoms to be taken from us

Why do you want to participate?

I have always been interested in politics, law, economics and philosophy; I hope I'm able to put my skills to the test so it will be more than just a hobby

What does freedom mean to you?

to be free is to be able to life your life as you see fit, provided you leave others to do the same; on top of that, free speech, a free press and public discourse are essential to a well-functioning society

What are the biggest challenges?

the biggest challenges on a worldwide level are that of authoritarian states encroaching on our rights through censorship (especially on social media) and war; the latter specifically shows how the freedoms we have in Europe and took for granted for decades are not anymore so obvious after the breakout of conventional war in eastern Europe

Do you have a message?

probably; we'll find out at the workshop :)
