Treaty of Middelburg

If I could change one thing, it would be to ensure that every young person, no matter their background, has access to quality education and the resources they need to succeed. Education is a powerful tool for breaking cycles of poverty, challenging injustice, and promoting critical thinking.

Why do you want to participate?

Young people bring fresh perspectives, creativity, and a deep sense of urgency to pressing global issues. By coming together in events like this, we not only exchange ideas but also empower one another to take action, challenge the status quo, and work toward a more just and equitable society.

What does freedom mean to you?

To me, freedom is about equality of opportunity and the ability to access fundamental rights without discrimination or barriers. This includes freedom of speech, access to quality education, healthcare, and safety—basic pillars that allow individuals to reach their full potential. True freedom is not just about the absence of oppression but also about creating conditions where everyone, regardless of their background, has the same opportunities to thrive.

What are the biggest challenges?

One of the biggest freedom challenges for young people today is the inequality of opportunities. Many young people, depending on where they are born or their socio-economic background, do not have the same access to education, career opportunities, or even the ability to express themselves freely. Structural barriers—such as economic disparity, discrimination, and lack of access to technology or political representation—limit the potential of youth and hinder their ability to actively shape their own futures.
