What does freedom mean to you?

Growing up in Europe, I've always thought about freedom in terms of individual rights - identity, gender, ambition-. Yet, being increasingly exposed to new perspectives, I realized how in many places of the globe, people's fundamental rights - access to food, water, education, and protection from terrors are denied.

What are the biggest challenges?

I think the democratic backsliding and nationalist surge we are witnessing is one of the biggest challenges to protecting fundamental freedoms such as free speech, gender rights, education, mobility, etc.

Do you have a message?

Another important challenge I perceive in the coming years is freedom of worship. The increasing polarization, accompanied by fears and discrimination, makes it hard, if not dangerous, for some to express their religion and spirituality.
