After two days of hard work, 200 youth ambassadors of 50 nationalities have realised the Treaty of Middelburg. This treaty is based on the Four Freedoms of President Roosevelt and is a call to action from the youth to everyone in the world.
In the next couple of weeks the treaty will be updated with goals and action points, drafted during the International Youth Freedom Conference on 2 and 3 May.
Treaty of MiddelburgWe, the 200 youth ambassadors of freedom from more than 50 countries worldwide, gathered to commemorate and pass on the liberation 80 years after the end of World War II. We reflect on President Roosevelt´s Four Freedoms speech of January 1941.
With this Treaty, we as youth, in a period of increasing global tension and conflicts, recognize our shared responsibility to protect, strengthen, and pass on the hard-won freedom to future generations, thereby bringing about positive change for a peaceful future.
Through this living document, we strengthen the voice of our generation and call upon influential stakeholders worldwide to join us in securing a future for all humanity based on freedom.
We, the 80 Years of Freedom Zeeland Foundation, aim to build a future where 80 years of freedom is not just a memory but firmly secured for generations to come. Through our activities, we aim not only to commemorate the essence of freedom but also to actively shape it, make it tangible and experiential for everyone. We strive to raise awareness that freedom is becoming increasingly less self-evident. Freedom is one of the most fundamental prerequisites for our collective well-being.
The best defense against destruction of democracy.
Our weapon against intolerance and fanaticism.
The promise to eradicate poverty and investing in accessible healthcare and education.
a freedom dependent on collective security, a concept propagated by the US within the United Nations.
